Synthesis and characterization of (E)-3-(1-methyl-1h-pyrrol-2 yl)-1-(pyridin-4-yl)prop-2-en-1-one
Abstract
Pyrrole-containing compounds are of significant scientific interest owing to their distinctive electronic properties and their broad range of applications in medicinal chemistry, materials science, and optoelectronics. Particular emphasis has been placed on N-substituted pyrroles, which exhibit enhanced chemical stability and high synthetic versatility.
α,β-Unsaturated carbonyl compounds (chalcone-type structures) bearing heteroaromatic frag¬ments are of special interest because of their conjugated π-systems, which enable efficient charge trans¬¬fer and strong intermolecular interactions. Incorporation of a pyridine moiety into such frameworks furt¬her enhances their potential as ligands, bioactive scaffolds, and precursors for coordination comp¬lexes, owing to the basicity and metal-binding ability of the pyridine nitrogen atom.
